Due to inclement weather, we have rescheduled this event to July 24. See you then!


We'll give away over 250 books in English, Spanish, and bilingual for children and young adults. Stop by and grab a book to take home!

This program occurs at the Crossroads Farmers Market located on Anne St. @, University Blvd E, Takoma Park, MD 20912, next to Mega Mart.

Data shows that young people are motivated to be active and engaged readers when they receive books as gifts, “suggesting that [community organizations] should explore avenues for promoting book ownership.”

Reading our social story is a great way to familiarize yourself with what happens during a Yard Dramas session, allowing you and your little ones to anticipate what to expect better.

In this session:

Señorita Mariposa will welcome a special guest under the tent—a cockroach from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷! Get ready to share stories from various Spanish-speaking countries 📚🎨, as we learn about story structure. And don't miss a puppet-making activity. We may even have a librarian read Sembrando Historias by Anika Aldamuy Denise.

Nos aprenderemos a identificar las herramientas del actor: cuerpo, voz, imaginación y cooperación. Escucharemos y exploraremos dos cuentos "El Monstruo de Colores" de Anna Llenas y "Go Away Big Green Monster" de Ed Emberley, donde podremos poner en práctica nuestras herramientas y mostrar nuestros sentimientos dramatizando las historias.

We'll learn to identify the actor's tools: body, voice, imagination, and cooperation. We will hear and explore two stories "The Color Monster" by Anna Llenas and "Go Away Big Green Monster" by Ed Emberley, where we can put our tools to use and show our feelings by dramatizing the stories.
