A Story to bring back the light
Penny and I have always wanted to celebrate the winter solstice with an outdoor light performance, and this year, we're finally making it happen!
Yes, it’s true—it’s going to be cold. It may feel darker and chillier than anything we’ve experienced this year…
But don't worry! We’ll bundle up in cozy blankets to keep warm, while the glow of fireflies lights our path. Together, we’ll tell the story of Deer Mother using Shadow Puppets. Let's retrieve the sun, helping to bring light and warmth back to our world. Doesn't it sound magical?
If you have or can create an animal shadow puppet, we’d love for you to bring it along for our shadow puppet parade! Given the temperature, our gathering will last about 30-45 minutes.
Don't forget:
- a cozy blanket to snuggle under,
- a small flashlight to shine,
- Make a shadow puppet at home to bring along, if you want, and
- your best cheer to keep the atmosphere bright!

July 20 | Ward 2: Story for Land

We will need a flock of birds for our story this week! Additionally, the frogs from session 1 will be featured, and you are welcome to join us as a frog if you prefer.
We encourage you to consider creating a bird puppet to join our flock in the parade. You can prepare your own Bird Puppet before the event or join us between 10 and 10:30 to make one on the spot. We will have some materials available, or you can bring your own to craft with us. You can find these easy instructions with images here. We would love for you to join us and experience the joy of being a part of our flock!
